Can I get my data deleted?

Every PlaySafe ID user has the right to request that their personal data be erased.

PlaySafe ID aims to keep as little data as possible, for as short a time as possible. What happens when a deletion request is made depends on one thing: the standing of the account at the time of the request.

Examples:

Account in good standing (no active penalties)
The request is granted in full. The account, personal information and the biometric references created at verification are deleted.

Account with an active penalty
Most personal data is still deleted or anonymised. A limited Penalty Record is kept for the retention period that applies to the offence, so the penalty cannot be evaded by deleting the account. The account can no longer access PlaySafe Protected games or services. Once the retention period ends, the Penalty Record is deleted.

Inactive accounts
Accounts with no activity for an extended period are deleted automatically. Reminder emails are sent beforehand, and signing in keeps the account active.

For what a Penalty Record contains, how long each offence category is kept, and processing timelines, see our Retention Schedule.

How to submit a request

If you would like to submit a data deletion request, please email gdpr@playsafeid.com from the email address associated with your PlaySafe ID.

If you believe a decision about your data is wrong, contact complaints@playsafeid.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.

This action is irreversible once submitted. Once your request is processed, your account and associated data will be deleted in line with our Retention Schedule. If a penalty is active, a Penalty Record is retained until its retention period ends.
