Could people just use AI to create accounts?

No. This is something our verification process is specifically designed to guard against.

Verification is completed through the Onfido SDK on a mobile device, which runs a comprehensive series of checks on both what is being transmitted and received in real time. This includes adjusting camera settings to verify focus changes, applying invisible filters, and manipulating lighting conditions; all of which the SDK analyses to confirm that the image is genuine and the person is live. This also protects against device and image injection attacks.

The same liveness detection technology used by major banks globally is employed here to ensure that the person completing verification is a real, live individual; not a generated or manipulated image. AI-generated images, deepfakes, or any other manipulated media simply cannot pass these checks.

Combined with the requirement for a valid government-issued identity document, AI-generated account creation is effectively impossible within our system.
