Why doesn't PlaySafe ID just permanently ban?

It was something we considered. However after careful review, we found that a blanket permanent ban policy creates more problems than it solves.

Instead, we use a tiered approach where penalties scale with repeat offences. This strikes a better balance: serious first-time offenders still face significant bans, consequences escalate meaningfully for those who continue to violate the rules, and there is room for rehabilitation for those who made a genuine mistake.

That said, there is no leniency for child safety violations. Grooming, CSEA, and CSAM carry an automatic permanent ban. No exceptions.
